Young Composers Scheme - Children and young people's activities
What we do
Young Composers is a four-day composition course designed for 14 – 18 year olds.
Arts Active runs the course three times a year, during the half term and summer holidays. Each time the course is run, it is led by a different tutor and joined by a different ensemble, contracted by Arts Active. Students work with the ensemble and tutor to produce their own compositions, which are then recorded on the final day of the course. Arts Active then edits and sends out the recordings to the students.
Young Composers is free for students to attend and is an excellent opportunity to learn to compose for ensembles they may not compose for in their studies at school and to add their pieces to any portfolio they may be compiling to apply for further study in music.
Who do we support
For students aged 14 - 18 with an interest in music and composition.
